Murray’s Most Indulgent Cheeses

Murray’s Cavemaster Reserve Greensward

Winter is still here and in full force, so we’re cozying up to some deeply delicious and flavor-packed cheeses, along with some mouthwatering snacks. Want to know how we like to indulge? We asked some of our Murray’s experts about their favorite decadent cheeses and how they enjoy them.

Peter (PJ) Jenkelunas, Head Cavemaster: Around this time of year, there are few things more satisfying than a warm pot of fondue.  The fondue-cheese could vary, but I find myself reaching for Annelies time and time again.  Pair this with a crusty loaf of bread and a crisp beer for a perfect winter evening.

Roman Dinavitser, Ecommerce Coordinator: When I’m looking to indulge with cheese, the first one that I reach for is Parmigiano Reggiano. Sometimes I’ll grab it right out of my refrigerator, not giving the cheese a chance to warm up, and it still tastes great and pairs with almost any beer. My favorite cheese-indulging moments are when there’s some Parm left over from whatever recipe I’m making and I get to enjoy a delicious snack while I cook.

Five-Year Parmigiano Reggiano

Lauren Toth, Project Manager, Training & Curriculum Development : I am all about balancing sweet and savory flavors when I indulge, and my go-to combo is pudding-like, rich Casastica di Bufala, an Italian bloomy-rind cheese made with buffalo milk, topped with a small dollop of Pistacchiosa (think pistachio Nutella!) served on a Jan’s Farmhouse Cranberry & Pistachio Crisp for some textural contrast. Because it’s so decadent, I can (usually) manage to keep it to a reasonable serving size.

Jasper Hill Winnimere

Beth Ann Coulton, Senior Account Manager: I’m a total sucker for ooey gooey, spruce-bound cheeses like Harbison and Winnimere and decadent butter bombs like St Stephen. Indulgence is all about pleasure, and these cheeses do not fall short. Throw in a bottle of Cremant du Jura and a crusty baguette and you’ve got yourself a pretty sweet night.
